ASSOCIATES
Oversees the development of programs, resources, and services for associate members. Plans and organizes several special meetings and social events and works closely with other committees. The Associate Vice President chairs the committee.
EDUCATION
Oversees coordination of continuing education programs on a variety of topics relevant to the housing industry. It pursues a progressive role in furthering education and upgrading the skills of SVBA’s members in order to fully contribute to the industry professionalism. Seminars on timely issues of concern to the building industry include: safety, financing, sales and marketing, fair housing laws, and legal and environmental issues.
LEGISLATIVE
Stays focused on local, state and national issues that affect the building industry. Researches proposed ordinances and works with local government to try to bring about change that is satisfactory to members and the local government. Chaired by the volunteer who represents SVBA at state legislature meetings held in Richmond.
FINANCE
Responsible for long range financial planning for the Association.
PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING
Develop and solicit promotional options for Association and SVBA members as well as promotes sponsorship opportunities.
GREEN BUILDING
Using the SVBA as a vehicle to promote green building in the Shenandoah Valley through a program of education for the building industry and consumers alike.
MEMBERSHIP
Promote membership and benefits; increase retention; coordinates membership drives; Plans and organizes Special Events such as the June Mix ‘n’ Mingle, Holiday Party, Spike Party, etc.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Organization and planning for the annual golf tournaments (including operation, door prize and sponsor solicitation).
PARADE OF HOMES
Plans and organizes a showcase of new and remodeled homes.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Designed to encourage young people to further their education in housing related programs. The funds are awarded to deserving students pursuing study in housing industry programs.
